Do you ever ponder
Upon the wonder
And the glory of a child
So innocent and sweet
But still so wild?
Do you ever sing
And soar away on the wing
Of songs and light?
Do you glory in the passion
Of music pure and bright?
Do you ever run?
Do you glory in the sun?
In wide meadows do you play?
Through forests do you wander?
Can you hear what the waves must say?
Have you ever laughed
Laughed when you were caught
In the warm embrace of air?
Did you sing and play and wonder
As it teased you, and blew your hair?
So sing and play like the child
Let the wind and air make your hair wild
Stop and glory in the warm sunlight
Lift up your voice, fly away on the wings of beautiful song
And through the meadows and forests of your life, run with all your might!
Do you ever stop and look around at your surroundings? Do you ever think about how adorable that toddler in the store is? Do you ever stop and really listen to music? Do you thank the wind for messing up your clothes or perfectly styled hair? That is what this poem is about. It’s about stopping and looking at the beautiful world God gave us. It’s about being thankful for the little things, like wind and rain and trees. It’s being thankful for beautiful hummingbirds drinking from the feeder outside your window, and in the same thought, being thankful for the cat (or dog) that demands all of your attention every second. I don’t typically have very serious poems, but this one is and I want you to think about it. Stop for a minute and just breath! See how beautiful this world can be!
