I Am Enough

I am enough.
Though the wind blows around me
It beats me down
Whispers lies to my heart.

I am enough.
Though the branches slap my face
As I run away
From the pain of yesterday.

I am enough.
Though the waves are set against me
As I stand before them
They leap over my head.

"You are enough."
I tell you as you cry tears of loneliness
Curled up in a corner
Wrapped in your pain.

I am enough.
Because I am a child of God
I can do more
But I will do no less.

Shattered Diamonds

She stands erect
Hooded hollows shield her eyes
As they stroke
Their never-ending dance across the sky.
Her hand stretches out
Slender twigs brush his cheek
Brush away the shattered
Diamonds cascading to the ground.

Soft strokes scratch his soft, bearded cheek
As he gazes, awestruck
At her hooded stars
They no longer glow bright
No diamonds grace their rim
Perched precariously around the edge.
Luscious crimson roses smile,
Gentle thornless hands fondle
Children’s faces.

As she laughs, her stars still dim,
But as she cries, diamonds fall away.
Diamonds filled with bitter, sweet
Salt
Shattering under a pressure
Not many can brace against.
But the stars shine bright
As the tears make way for
Laughter, joy,
Starbright.
Starlight.

Time

Tick, tock,
Tick, tock.
Hours, minutes, seconds,
Fly by like a flash.
Tock, tick,
Tock, tick,
Why must time keep marching
Its never ending march?

Newborn

Laughter,
As I tickle your tiny tummy.
Cooing,
As I kiss your little head.
Crying,
As I rock you to sleep.
Squealing,
As I swoop you into the air.
Snoring,
As you drool on my shoulder.

Falling

Help me, I cry.
I’m falling
Shattering
As I hit the floor.
Tears like shards
Glass broken
Heartless
I cry, help me.
What can I do?
Who am I?
Where am I?
Heartless
I scream
Punch the air
Can I escape
This prison?
Help me, I cry.
I cry, help me.

I Wonder

I wonder at the oak so tall.
How did you get to be
So tall?
    So tall?
So tall?
I wonder at the rose so red.
How did you get to be
So red?
  So red?
So red?
I wonder at the grass so green.
How did you get to be
So green?
So green?
So green?

I wonder at that hand so long.
How did you get to be
So long?
So long?
So long?
I wonder at those lips so red.
How did you get to be
So red?
So red?
So red?
I wonder at these eyes so green.
How did you get to be
So green?
So green?
So green?

The oak wonders at me so small.
How did you get to be
So small?
So small?
So small?
The rose wonders at me so frail.
How did you get to be
So frail?
So frail?
So frail?
The the grass wonders at me so pale.
How did you get to be
So pale?
So pale?
So pale?

God looks at me so small
I made you to be
So small.
So small.
So small.
God looks at me so frail.
I made you to be
So frail.
So frail.
So frail.
God looks at me so pale.
I made you to be
So pale.
So pale.
So pale.

And God looks at that hand so long.
I made it to be
So long.
So long.
So long.
And God looks at those lips so red.
I made them to be
So red.
So red.
So red.
And God looks at these eyes so green.
I made them to be
So green.
So green.
So green.

And I smile at the oak so tall.
I know how you get to be
So tall.
So tall.
So tall.
And I smile at the rose so red.
I know how you get to be
So red.
So red.
So red.
And I smile at the grass so green.
I know how to you get to be
So green.
So green.
So green.

Though I know not how.
God made the oak
So tall.
So tall.
So tall.
Though I know not how.
God made my hand
So long.
So long.
So long.
Though I know not how.
God made me
So small.
So small.
So small.

Though I know not how
God made the rose
So red.
So red.
So red.
Though I know not how.
God made my lips
So red.
So red.
So red.
Though I know not how.
God made me
So frail.
So frail.
So frail.

Though I know not how.
God made the grass
So green.
So green.
So green.
Though I know not how.
God made my eyes
So green.
So green.
So green.
Though I know not how
God made me
So pale.
So pale.
So pale.

Cheese

Golden yellow or maybe pale
Hard or soft
So very tasty.
I love cheese
Mozzarella
Parmesan
Or cheddar.
In eggs
Lasagna
Or straight up.
Shredded
Sliced
Or fried.
I love cheese.
