Broken

She sings before thousands
Perfect, smiling, beautiful.
But inside there are
Shards
Broken pieces
Of her heart.
At night alone she cries.
She tells others of
Amazing love,
But when she’s alone
She screams her pain into the night.

Everyone sees his image
Handsome outer smile.
But in his heart
He’s scarred
Like those red lines on his arms.
He scoffs
At that girl with her Bible,
Yet he’s hungry
For her radiance.

Fire

Ever changing, ever burning,
Passion and destruction
Are synonymous with me.
Love and pain
Go hand in hand with my powers.
Fleeting is the apex of my fury,
But the embers of my revenge will burn
For a time and forever.

Breathe

Touch the sky
With an outstretched hand.
Reach the sea
With the tip of a toe.
Lift the earth
With sifting fingers.
Brush the fire
With a breath of air.
Breathe in air
With lungs expanding.

Crafted

Close your eyes
Bask in the brilliance.
Sing a new song
Of grace and forgiveness.
Don’t let your heart be troubled
The altar is open.
The Lord is patient
He will guide you.
Trust in Him alone.
Let go of your pain
Let go of your hurt
Let go of your fear
Just be held.
You are extraordinary
You are unique.
You are a child of God
Crafted by Him.

Lost Truth

Follow the trail of time
Civilizations rise and fall
Past, present, and future.
But the rush of Life
Fades now.
Past it was a river
Wider than a lake.
Present is a stream
But too wide to cross.
What of our future?
A trickle, a ditch.
Step across.
It's just a slight jump.

The Truth has slipped
Through our fingers,
And those who believe
Are few.
Will we reclaim?
Will we see?
It is lost in the flow
Of our mysterious future.

Wind

I lift my voice to the skies
Thread it through the air.
I drop my voice to the sea
Spread it through the waters.
I lift my song to the hills
And breathe it through the valleys.
My lullaby sends the rocks to sleep
And wakes the trees from their slumber.
But I finally drop to brush
The hair of a girl
That braves my storm.

Children of Light

Have you seen this darkness,
That surrounds us like a blight?
There seems naught that we can do
To combat its dreadful march.
But remember, my little children,
That we are lights.
Darkness can do naught against us,
But our own fear works wonders in the night.
Soon the morning comes,
And then there is not cause for fear.
For we are children of light,
We do not belong to the darkness,
And the darkness cannot combat us.
So do not fear.
