Kaylin Olivia Oswald

This character sketch is for the main character of my book. In the book, I call her Olivia, not Kaylin. The fact that she is a middle name person is a recent addition.

Kaylin Olivia Oswald is an alien from the planet Cirdavi, a people that relies heavily on their telepathic abilities. They are called Cirdian. They are also a warrior based species, a culture made almost entirely up of women. (there is a back story on that, but it would take a long time, and spoil part of my book) They do not use modern weapon, for they are not soldiers. They can use bows, swords, daggers, and spears with precision to make the most advanced army tremble.

Physical

> She is very tall, because her planet is much smaller than ours. It is unusual to be under 5' 10” (she is 6' 3”)

> She is slender, with straight brown hair that is often in a ponytail. She has a heart shaped face, small, pointy ears, full, very red lips, a straight, narrow nose, and deep brown eyes.

> Her fingers and hands are very long and slender, like the rest of her.

> She plays a variety of instruments. (Piano, most strings, most woodwinds and brass, and a Cirdavi instrument called a Liltal)

> She is very athletic, and enjoys things like gymnastics, martial arts, and fencing.

> She (because of her warrior upbringing) is excellent with swords and daggers, for they are her weapons of preference, though she can work many other weapons with accuracy.

Personality

> She is a very sweet person, but if you threaten her or her people, she will get angry.

> She loves dogs, and has a beautiful German Shepherd named Kaeleb that follows her everywhere.

> She is impulsive, which becomes troublesome when she is older.

> She is a natural leader, and other people in control, especially in something that she thinks she can do, bothers her, and gets in the way of her doing her best.

> She loves her sword, which she names Lürung. It is her most prized possession, and if you want to convince her that you are on her side, don't try to make her take it off. (Note: They wear their swords on their back to make traveling long distances easier)

> She has a brother named Mordecai, and two cousins named Walter and Neloki. (Their mothers were twins.

> She is incredibly stubborn, and does not give up easily.

> Her biggest fault is pride. It does not help that she is told to be proud of herself, because her telepathic powers are stronger than anything the Cirdian have encountered in several thousand years. She has to overcome that pride to win an eon-long battle her people have been fighting.

> She is friendly to everyone she comes in contact with, but she has always been lonely. A telepathic bond, which is how Cirdian who understand each other interact, is hard to create, and few understand her enough to make one.

> Her favorite colors are wood brown, royal blue, forest green, and gold.

> She was born on Muyari 35, neroura 00043, galactic time. Muyari is kind of like May, except it has more days.

> She does not like dresses, but when she wears them, she makes sure they are floor length, and she wears pants under them.

> She is a middle name person, and is almost always called Olivia. Kaylin is really more of a formal thing.

> She hates talking in front of people. It scares her, but she does it anyway. (She and her cousin, Walter are kind of representatives for Cirdavi, so they both do a lot of public speaking)

Thunderstorm

Here’s another poem that I wrote for school.

The wind whispered a tale to me,

But, alas I could not comprehend.

The rain slapped me in the face,

But I was like a tree, motionless.

The flower swirled around my feet,

But I was a strong pole of sturdy oak.

The sun broke through the shrouding clouds,

And with glorious triumph I saw,

The evergoing road that was my home.

This is an acrostic that I wrote for school. Mommy thinks it is funny. I hope you do to!
Obstinate like a cat
Laughs like a hyena (sometimes)
Intrigued by everything
Very goofy in all aspects
Impatiently waits for cake
And awesome in every way!! :)

A Winter Evening

Here is a poem that I wrote for fun. Please enjoy!!

A winter evening is a cheerful, crackling fire

And at its very mention,

Family and stories spring

Ever and anon into my head.

A winter evening is blankets and stuffies,

Hot cider and salty popcorn

Daddy is reading and all is at peace.

This is my tale of a winter’s eve

So hasten to the fire

And maybe bring some popcorn

As we dream of a winter evening.

The Miracles of This World

I often ponder the miracles of this world;

How the sun doth rise to glory

Arcing over us, from east to west it races.

How the eagles soar

And how dedicated to each other.

The purring of a soft cat

As loving claws insert and green eyes plead.

The beauty of the bending tree

In gusts of wind so ferocious.

The way of a dog with its master,

His viciousness at any invaders.

And how they happen I cannot say,

But I praise God for these wonders.

The Child’s World

The child, he glimpsed the oak so tall

Majestic, it towered over mankind.

Rain fell in his eyes,

Pure and sweet.

Briars and roses,

Pricked and pulled, inviting him in.

But he ran on with the wind in his face,

To the giant blanket of gold,

Of golden dandelions,

That shook and waved in whirls of refreshing wind.

Breakfast Time

I wrote this poem for school and Mommy said I should put it on the blog. So here it is.

When breakfast comes,

As you know;

A scurry of feet is sure to follow.

Laughing children

Will race about,

To gather food,

And plates, too!

Chattering,  giggling,

So much fun!

Then their footsteps fade,

As the morning meal is done.
